Erin’s Story

In December of 2019, Erin was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her left leg. The months that followed were filled with extended hospital stays, surgery, and many rounds of chemo. While those were some dark times, Erin always found a way to see some light.

She found light in the amazing community that surrounded her. Erin received letters, songs, artwork, and stuffed animals from all over the world. Erin knew she wouldn’t have to fight this fight alone.

While she was in the hospital, Erin was given a Warmie, a heatable stuffed animal that kept her warm during treatments. With her trusted Warmie by her side, she endured the chill that cancer patients often feel as a result of their chemotherapy. Her Warmie not only provided Erin with heat, but a little bit of light as well.

Erin knew she wanted to be part of the communal light for other pediatric cancer patients. She knows that she can’t personally hug everyone in the hospital (even though she’d like to), but she can send them a warm hug with a Warmie of their own. Erin’s goal is to send Warmies all across the United States to children who are battling cancer. She hopes each child that receives a Warmie will feel the warmth of her hug and know they aren’t fighting alone.
